Getting There:
You must go through Future World to get to the World Showcase. Then you have two choices on how to tour the countries:

  • Walk - You can walk around the World Showcase Lagoon from either direction and visit each country as you reach it.

  • Boat

  • - You can take a boat across the lagoon and start in the middle.

Overview
The World Showcase provides a tour of the world in an afternoon. The pavilions are like villages you might see in each country. Most of the buildings are scaled-down replicas of significant landmarks and great attention was made in recreating the details.

The food and souvenirs they offer are authentic and the people who work in each ‘country’ have been brought to Florida from their homeland. Feel free to ask them questions about their country.

Architecture & Landscaping
As you walk “around the world,” you’ll be able to identify most of the countries without looking at your map, because they look like the country they represent.

A lot of research and planning went into each country, to make it as authentic as possible. In many cases, Disney imported native woodworkers and trades people to build the exhibits, so they stayed true to native building practices and standards.

In the pages that follow, you’ll discover some of the secrets and challenges that went into creating the countries of The World Showcase.

Dining
It’s fun to eat dinner in one of the exotic countries of the World Showcase. The food and atmosphere are authentic and servers are natives of that country.

Most countries offer 2 choices for dining. All are family-oriented since this is still Disney World, but one choice is more upscale, sit down and more expensive. Reservations are usually required for this one.

The second choice provides counter-service, a more limited menu and is less expensive. These are fun spots for snacks, lunch, a quick dinner or dessert. Reservations are not required.

The restaurants are described in the sections that follow.

Entertainment & Attractions
Each country provides entertainment and attractions that reflect the history and culture of that country. The choices vary greatly and are outlined in the pages that follow.

Shopping
The gift shops of the World Showcase carry an amazing variety of clothing, home furnishings, craft items and souvenirs. The price ranges are equally incredible.

The shops are fun to browse and great spots for kids to find unusual and inexpensive souvenirs. The pages that follow will give you an idea of what to expect in the shops of each country.
