No Disney World holiday is complete without a day at the beach and you have two to choose from: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. These beaches are like no others, and being Disney’s, each one has a story.
Typhoon Lagoon:
A Typhoon tore through this park leaving its signature fishing vessel atop a mountain peak and everything else a little out of place.
Blizzard Beach:
A freak snowstorm hit Florida so the enterprising landowners built a ski resort to cash in on the weather. When the temperatures went back to normal, they quickly turned their ski lifts and toboggan runs into waterslides.
Things You Should Know BEFORE You Go…
If your Disney tickets include a day or two at the water parks, you’ll need to bring them along to get in. Otherwise, water park admissions prices are:
Adult: $40 plus tax
Child: $34 plus tax
(9 and under) Prices are subject to change without notice.
You CAN NOT take these things to the water park:
Large inflatable water toys
Glass bottles
Alcohol
You don’t need to take:
Towels (You can ‘rent’ them for $1.00 each)
Sand pails and buckets for the kids (some lunches and snacks come in free buckets with shovels)
These things will make your day easier and more enjoyable:
Locker Rentals with Wrist (or Ankle) Strap Key
Gift Card on a Wrist Strap
Photo Pass on a Wrist Strap
Sunscreen
Water Shoes (for tender tootsies - The bottom of the pools can be scratchy.)
Tip 1: Gift Card on a Wrist Strap You can buy Disney Gift cards in any of the parks but the mini gift cards on a coiled wrist strap are exclusive to Disney's water parks. We get one in the morning and load it with $50. We put the receipt in our locker with our gear.
Then - whenever we need something (like lunch, snacks, towels, souvenirs) we use the gift card to purchase it. It's handy (pun intended) and totally water-proof. If you lose it (we never have) - simply take your receipt to the gift shop and they'll replace it.
It's very convenient and saves us from having to get into our locker several times a day.
Tip 2: Photopass on a Wrist Strap You'll see Disney Photographers around the park. Using their services lets you 'capture the moment' without having to lug your camera around - and risk getting it wet. In the water parks, your mini Photopass comes complete with a wrist strap.
Locker Rentals:
For a small locker you’ll pay from $7 to $9 for locker rental (depending on size) plus a $5 deposit that's refunded when you return the key.
Lifejackets can be borrowed but require that you leave a driver's license or credit card as deposit.
