Disney World Ticket Options

The Basics
Kids 2 and under get in free.
Kids 3-9 use Children's Tickets.
People 9 and older must use adult tickets.

Disney sells tickets by the day. You can get any number of days - from 1 to 10. On Base tickets, the days you buy must be used within 14 days of the first day you use it.

The more days on the ticket, the less the cost per day.
For example: a one day Base ticket at the gate is $75 per day, plus tax..
A 10-day base ticket is $237 which equals $23.70 per day, plus tax.

So the cost per day is a lot less. That makes the 10-day ticket awfully tempting. However, as much as I love Disney World, 10 days at the same 4 parks on one trip is just too much for us.

On one trip, the greatest number of days we'd want to spend at the parks would be 6. (2 at Magic Kingdom, 2 at Epcot, 1 at Animal Kingdom and 1 at Hollywood Studios.) After that - you're retracing your steps and that gets boring. (Usually we spend 1 day per park and then do something else.)

So - The base ticket expires. If you're sure you'll visit Disney World again and want a ticket that doesn't expire, you can get the No Expiry Option.

Non-Transferable
Tickets are  non-transferable. You must sign them and scan a fingerprint to them the first time you use them.

Park Hopper Option
This option lets you visit more than 1 park in a day. We rarely park-hop. There's plenty to see and do in each park to fill a day.

Animal Kingdom closes earliest. The Hopper would come in handy if you had dinner reservations in Epcot, for example, on the day you visited Animal Kingdom.

TIP: You can upgrade your ticket and add the Hopper option once you're in Disney World. Just take it to the Visitor Relations booth. NOTE: You must upgrade the entire ticket. (You can do this with your DW-Deals discounted tickets too!)

No Expiry Option
With this ticket, you can use 4 days now, 3 days 10 years from now and and 3 days 25 years from now. You'll never pay an upgrade fee on the adult tickets.

Tip: You don't have to worry about the kids' tickets either. You can buy No Expiry tickets for your 3 year old now. Disney will honor them until she's 12. After that, you can take them to the Customer Service Office in any park and pay a fee to exchange the balance of the ticket for an adult ticket.

Water Parks and More Option
This option is relatively cheap per day and gets you into Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Disney Quest or Disney's Wide World of Sports

The water parks and Disney Quest are great! I've never been to Wide World of Sports.  Nor has anyone else I know.

If you go to these places on a day that you don't visit a Disney Theme Park - they're like getting an extra day.

TIP: If you go to Blizzard Beach one day, don't go to Epcot for dinner that night. If you do , your ticket will lose 1 theme park day plus 1 Water Parks and More option.
