Animal Kingdom Attractions:
Kilimanjaro Safaris

Get up close and personal with lions and giraffes in a way you never thought possible outside of Africa!

You’ll be traveling in an oversized safari truck with a guide to point out where to look and interesting facts.

There are no tracks to tie you down and no tall metal fences or barbed wire to peer through.

This is an incredible adventure!

Don't be surprised if your truck gets delayed while bird or beast meander across your path. You’ll even see lions basking in the sun – with no visible barriers between you. (There is a deep pit that’s camouflaged from view)

Your ride!

Interesting Story

While waiting in line one time, another guest told me about an incident that had happened to her on Kilimanjaro Safari.

They’d been driving along when suddenly, jeeps carrying park rangers with rifles surrounded their car. Their group was promptly escorted out of the area. Later they were told that park personnel had spotted a lion ‘tracking’ their party. Disney staff had reacted swiftly to ensure their safety. She told me it was all very exciting and that she’d never felt in any danger. In fact, none of them had even seen the lion. I mention this because:

a) that’s how real-life this attraction is and

b) it’s good to know that Disney “has your back.” Even though you don’t see them, the rangers are watching and making sure that each safari ends safely.

And remember - this was purely precautionary. There's a huge, deep pit that keeps the dangerous animals away from guests anyway!
